European Airports Report Slight Uptick
- It’s an improvement, but barely. Traffic at European airports was down 93% in June y/y, according to data released by Airports Council International-Europe (ACI-Europe). But that’s better than May, which saw a 98% drop in traffic at European airports. ACI-Europe attributes the increase in traffic to the easing of quarantines and travel restrictions in Europe as Covid infections decrease on the continent. For the full year, ACI-Europe is predicting traffic will be down 64% y/y, with revenues at European airports falling 67%. A full recovery is now expected in 2024, not 2023, ACI-Europe said.
